I’m posting just for the heck of it. Mostly cuz I remembered my password after Xiann changed it.
Since next Monday is Halloween and next Tuesday is the first day of NaNoWriMo, we’ve decided to move the meeting from Monday 10/31 to Tuesday 11/1.
Also, it turns out that the restaurant at our current venue is closed on Mondays. If Tuesday works out next week, we may decide to reschedule MoWiTy to Tuesdays. How does everyone feel about this?
I hope you guys are pumped for NaNoWriMo! Or, if you’re not doing NaNoWriMo, come along, watch the November madness ensue, and get a little writing done while you’re at it!
The Soundry is currently closed and we don’t know when or if this awesome venue will reopen. In the meantime, us monkeys still need to type! We’ll currently be meeting in the Town Hall of the Artisphere in Rosslyn, VA. The venue has tables, chairs, couches, wifi, food, coffee and beer (Update, 10/24, 9PM: It turns out that the restaurant is closed on Monday nights, but we might reschedule the meetings for Tuesdays). You should come!
Directions are available on the Artisphere’s website. The venue is metro-accessible and it looks like there’s free parking after 5PM.
Hey; here’s a…
…simple four-item formula for turning story into fiction
Nice article. Fictionalizing a story is something I’ve failed at utterly in the past
The breaking news is that our venue, The Soundry, is closed and may never reopen. (See the Soundry’s Facebook wall for the latest information we have.) What are a million monkeys with typewriters to do? Needless to say, the location of our next meeting is TBD.
Please comment here to discuss. Thanks!
UPDATE (10/21/2011, 1PM): Sadly, we still have no official word when or if The Soundry will reopen. If it is not open on Monday, the current plan is to have MoWiTy at 7PM as usual at the Town Hall at the Artisphere in Rosslyn, VA. We’ll post a confirmation of our location on Monday.
UPDATE (10/24/2011, 2PM): We’re on for meeting at 7PM in the Town Hall in the Artisphere in Rosslyn. Directions are available on their website. We’ll try to be in the upper level, and will be the group with a bunch of tables pushed together, typing furiously (we hope). See you tonight!
What the shit? Does anyone have the full newstory?
There is not much news out there yet, and it’s not totally clear whether #OccupySoundry this Friday night at 7PM is a go either, although some people say they’re showing up anyway. I’m surprised and kinda worried, I’m really going to miss that place if this is the final ending
I really really don’t want this place to die. This is unadulterated bullshit.
I know! I will totally donate to their telethon! But I don’t know if they’re having one.
Do you think Lacy or Sarah can help get the media involved?
Hmm, maybe! I’m surprised there hasn’t been any media coverage of this myself! I searched Google News before I sent this message to the MoWiTy group and couldn’t find anything. However, since I haven’t really heard anything “official” from the Soundry, I don’t know what their next move will be. Most of what I have to go on is the fact that the Soundry IS closed (I went there last night) and there is a lot of sad buzz on Facebook with an air of finality. I hope to find out more about the official situation soon.
So I emailed the Vienna Patch because they’ve reported on the Soundry a lot, and they said they’re already covering the story. Hopefully they’ll have some news out soon at least …
Great! It will be nice to find out more about what’s going on… I’m really hoping this isn’t it for The Soundry! :[
Coming up with some last names to use in my novel tonight, I came across this helpful website: The Surname Database (http://www.surnamedb.com). Some English surnames I’m using in my novel: Frampton, Willborough, Hartfield. Looking up my characters’ surnames seems like a good way to find out more about their backgrounds so far …
We’re back on for MoWiTy tonight at The Soundry at 7PM — I hope you can make it! Tonight, we’ll check in on our projects, see who’s in for NaNoWriMo in November, and make some progress on our works-in-progress. See you then!
Since a lot of our regulars can’t make it tonight, there will be no official MoWiTy meeting at the Soundry later. But if you’re in a writing mood, go write at the Soundry (or wherever you are) anyway! See you next week
